Maui Memories from 2020
We flew to Maui for a family vacation in February 2020! The month before Covid 19 basically halted all travel and the island was closed to non-residents. To say we visited at the perfect time is an understatement. We had had just enough of our cold and rainy west coast Canadian winter and were seeking some fun and relaxation. We needed this family getaway so much! Maui NEVER dissapoints!
Maui has always been one of our favorite places to go, and when we’re there, we never want to leave! It’s only a 5 hour flight from Vancouver, but feels much farther as it’s truly paradise and the sun is almost always shining! Of course there are rain showers, but it normally clears up and it’s perfectly warm enough for the beach all year round.
We usually like to divide our time between Kihei and the northern beaches of Kaanapali/Kahana, but this trip we stayed the entire time up north. We spent half of the time at a condo overlooking the ocean, and the other half at a larger resort with big pools/slides and a restaurant!
February is also a great time to visit because the whale watching is incredible. We watched them from our balcony every morning and even took a trip out to see them up close. It was Hudson and Grace’s first time to the island and they loved playing in the sand and the hotel pools and ammenities.
A highlight of our trip was the family photography session we planned with Heartstrings Photo Co. Amy was such a pro and captured the entire family in the most beautiful way. The location she chose for sunrise was amazing and the lighting was perfection.
She caught treasured moments that we will treasure forever. Amy was great with the kids and made Hudson laugh and captured him totally in his element just being a toddler. I would highly recommend Heartstrings Photo Co when visiting Maui whatever the occasion may be.
Dear Maui – until we meet again… and in the meantime stay beautiful and safe. XOXO
