Healthy Banana Bread Smoothie the Whole Family Loves!
This post is in Partnership with Vitamix.ca a brand I use and Love! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Banana Bread is a treat we enjoy often, and I’ve worked hard to find and create a tasty, but healthier baked version! With this as my inspiration and a little playing around with different ingredients (I love experimenting in my Vitamix), I’ve discovered a smoothie recipe that reminds me of Banana Bread and it’s so easy to make! Perfect for a quick breakfast or anytime snack!
I use our Vitamix Ascent A3500 almost every single day. With five program settings (for Smoothies, Hot Soups, Dips & Spreads, Frozen Desserts, and Self-Cleaning) its a kitchen must-have I cannot live without. When blending something like this “Banana Bread Smoothie” the Vitamix effortlessly creates a luscious and creamy consistency every single time.
When I ask the kids if they want a smoothie, they always respond “YES” and run to the kitchen to help! They love to assist with putting ingredients into the Vitamix, but usually run to the playroom when I’m about to blend everything together. As soon as the sound stops, you bet they are lining up for their smoothie!
I sweeten it with a teaspoon of natural maple syrup, it does just the trick. Be sure to use fresh ripe bananas and good quality oats. I love to use Almond Milk in this recipe, but any type of milk will be just fine. Another option is to add a tablespoon of nut butter or even a scoop of protein powder. I often throw whole nuts into my smoothies and the Vitamix blends them seamlessly into the other ingredients.
Banana Bread Smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, peeled
- 1 cup almond milk (oat milk also works great)
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon real maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup ice cubes
Add all ingredients to your Vitamix and blend on the “smoothie setting” until smooth and creamy. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon and enjoy!
Optional Ingredients: 1 tablespoon Nut Butter or a scoop of protein powder!
If you want to make this recipe vegan, you can replace the Greek Yogurt with Coconut milk or just omit it all together.
Hope you love this recipe (my kids sure do) and be sure to check out all the amazing recipe ideas on Vitamix.ca
