Visiting the Disney Wonder in Vancouver
Mark and I used to work on Disney Cruise Line, so when a friend of ours invited us to bring Hudson and visit the Disney Wonder in port for the day in Vancouver, we were super excited! It was such fun being back onboard as a guest for the day, and showing our little guy around a big cruise ship!
We loved working onboard and have so many fond memories of our time on Disney. We worked as the “Port Shopping Guides” which meant we held large presentations and hosted our own TV Channel to promote the shopping ashore (mainly in the Caribbean where luxury items like diamonds and watches are tax and duty free)! The perks were endless and the job was amazing! Wondering how to get a job like this? Comment below!
Meeting Captain Henry was a highlight of our visit. He has over 40 years of seagoing experience and has been with Disney for over 20 years! He’s very friendly and along with Captain Mickey and the rest of the crew, they keep the ship running smoothly each week.
We happened to see Goofy walking on Deck 4 and stopped for a picture. Piece of advice: It would have been a good idea to prepare him for the first time he met the characters! Hudson was not too thrilled about it and was probably a little caught off guard. Cue the Crying baby!
On Disney Cruise Line you will usually find the following characters available for Meet & Greet opportunities around the ship:
- Mickey Mouse
- Minnie Mouse
- Donald Duck
- Daisy Duck
- Chip ‘n Dale
- Goofy
- Pluto
- Cinderella
- Jake
- Doc McStuffins
- Sofia the First
- Queen Elsa
- Princess Anna
Goofy is just so fun and goofy! I’m sure once Hudson is a little older he’ll warm up to him!
We were hoping Captain Mickey would be a different story, but unfortunately he wasn’t! Hudson really wanted nothing to do with him. This was the best family shot we got where he wasn’t fully in tears.
Children who experience a Disney Cruise get to take part in the Oceaneer Club . Hudson’s still a bit young, but because it was embarkation day there weren’t any kids onboard yet, and we had the entire place to ourselves. It truly is an amazing space with so much to do for kids ages 3-12.
My favorite part of the Oceaneer Club is “Andy’s Room” from the movie Toy Story. It’s a huge playroom with Slinky the Dog Slide and life-size play blocks. Across from here you will find Marvel Academy and Frozen’s Trading Post. Talk about Imagination!
It doesn’t feel that long ago that I was onboard the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship on my final contract 3 months pregnant with my little man. He’s grown so fast and the time is going so quickly. I can’t wait to take him on a Disney Ship one day for an entire cruise somewhere one day! In the meantime we really enjoyed our visit while the ship was docked in Vancouver en route to Alaska!

Hey Candice! Thanks for sharing this! We’ve just been contemplating taking a Disney Cruise with our kids when they turn 3 and 5 this Fall, it was great to see and hear your take on it!
Oh that’s awesome!
Awww,w, Andy’s Room looks so fun! I’d LOVE to go on a Disney cruise! My daughter hated the dressed up characters when younger too (she’s good now)!
Haha! Ya I think most do, it probably just takes time!
WOW! This looks like so much fun! I’ve always wanted to visit Vancouver too 🙂
This looks like it was such a blast for everyone. Disney definitely has me wanting to go back soon!
Ah looks like such a fun time!!
