Top 10 Disneyland Rides for Babies and Toddlers and which ones to Avoid.
Our recent trip to Disneyland was so much fun! There were SO many things for us to do, we literally didn’t want to leave! EVER! Hudson being 22 months old, I’ve put together a list of our Top 10 Disneyland Rides for Toddlers & Babies, and which ones to avoid as well! The below lists our favorite rides and attractions that had no height or weight restrictions, and were even safe for pregnant mamas (like myself)!
Our Top Ten Rides at Disneyland for Babies and Toddlers
(In no particular order). I also highlight the ONE he’s still talking about!
1.) King Arthur’s Carousel
Hudson loved King Arthur’s Carousel! He wasn’t quite big enough to ride all alone, but enjoyed being close to mama. The seat belt went around us both and he enjoyed the music and views as we went round and round in the centre of Fantasy Land.
2.) The Disneyland Railroad
This classic train ride goes around the entire park and has always been one of my favorites! It’s narrated and gives you the option to hop on and off in the different lands! We took the train from Toon Town back to Main Street and enjoyed all the views along the way!
3.) Casey Jr. Circus Train
This is one of the original park rides from 1955 and features the brave little train “Casey Jr.” from the movie Dumbo. It’s a slow moving train through Story book land that passes loads of little villages and famous Disney sites along the way. Hudson loved this one, we even rode it twice!
4.) Storybook Land Canal Boats
These enchanting 12 person boats take you on a lovely narrated tour of homes and villages from classic Disney movies. Hudson liked watching the ducks during this gentle boat ride, he also loved the big whale tunnel!
5.) Alice In Wonderland & The Mad Tea Party
Both these side by side Fantasy land rides were great! The lines for Alice are long, so try to get a fast pass or get there early! Because we stayed at a Disney Hotel we headed straight for Fantasy land during Magic Morning Hours!
6.) Dumbo the Flying Elephant
This was the first ride we went on, and what ended up being Hudson’s favorite ride at Disneyland! Another park original, he is still talking about it! We ask him what his favorite ride is a Disneyland and he shouts “Dumbo Ride” – too cute!
7.) Mickey and Minnie’s House in Toon Town
The lines to meet Mickey Mouse at his house were long, but these interactive walk thru homes are definitely a highlight of Toon Town. Hudson also loved just sitting in the various cars parked outside on the streets! Toon Town is where he got to meet Goofy!
8.) Donald’s Boat
This fun walk-thru boat featuring Donald Duck doesn’t have any wait, and Hudson loved standing behind the wheel and looking at the views over Toon Town. All Aboard!
9.) It’s A Small World
This classic ride is mesmerizing for the little ones! It features a slow moving boat ride along the Seven Seas Canal where hundreds of Audio -Animatronic dolls sing the famous anthem in their native languages. There is so much to look it and it’s a nice and relaxing “longer” ride!
10.) The Jungle Cruise
We didn’t make it over to Adventure Land until dark, and the Jungle Cruise at night for Hudson’s first time probably wasn’t the best idea. It was a little loud and scary (even for mama) at times. Although better enjoyed in daylight at this age, he still pointed and named the animals while staying close to mom and dad!
California Adventure has some great kiddie options as well, although not as many as Disneyland. We loved “The Little Mermaid” and would have gone on the Big Mickey Wheel and The Golden Zephyr if the lines weren’t so long. We enjoyed seeing and taking pictures with some of the characters while walking around this park and there are many great food options!
There are a few rides that we avoided because I remembered them being quite dark and a bit scary. Although there is no height restriction, we definitely wanted Hudson’s first Disney experience to be an entirely positive experience. We avoided the following rides…
1.) Snow White’s Scary Adventure
2. ) Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
3.) Pirates of the Caribbean
4.) Pinnochio’s Daring Journey
5.) The Haunted Mansion
I highly recommend taking your toddler to Disneyland! There were so many things to enjoy, and tons of rides we didn’t even have time for! He loved the experience and is still talking about it today! We can’t wait to go back again! Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment or add your questions below!
