How to create a chic and cozy home office space!
When we bought this house I envisioned the front room as a space where I wanted to spend a lot of time! With tons of natural light, high ceilings and huge windows, I pictured the perfect spot for a cozy and chic living room/home office space! Hubby wasn’t thrilled at first when I brought home the pink pillows, but it’s all come together and we couldn’t love it more!
One of the first things I knew I wanted for this room were these gorgeous blush peony decals from Urban Walls. We started by painting the walls an off-white color. “Marscapone” by Benjamin Moore! I found the mid century modern style grey sofa from Wayfair and paired it with some pink and white throw pillows from Pier 1 Imports! When you walk thru our front door these florals are one of the first things you see!
The amount of natural light is one of my favourite things about this room! Natural light is key to creating an uplifting work space! I also love that it’s across from the playroom on our main floor. In our apartment, I had to use our couch or kitchen counter as a make-shift office, so it’s amazing to finally have this dreamy space to call my own.The gold writing desk and coffee table worked perfectly! I splurged on the desk, and I’m so glad I did! I wanted to create a space that was comfy and a little glamorous. I also wanted an area to display items and photos – this wide Modern Bookshelf was found at West Elm.I still have some organizing and a couple boxes of office stuff (not shown of course) to sort thru, but in the meantime this space is just perfect. A little area for entertaining or enjoying a morning coffee, and a clutter free work space where I can keep an eye out the window and have a full view of the playroom as well!Because of the floral decals used above the couch, I wanted the space above my desk to be simple and clean. I found these basic gold frames and ordered the prints online at Etsy. The carpet is one of the first items that arrived (ordered from Wayfair) and I love it’s subtle design. The placement of my desk was super important. I wanted it to be open to the room and I certainly didn’t want to be staring at a wall. I finally have a little office to escape to on those early mornings or late nights. When I came up with this vision (after some late night Pinterest pinning) I thought I might need a designer to help me pull it all together, but piece by piece (with no help at all) it luckily worked out!I plan to add a couple more “living” plants to the office come Spring! Just to breathe more life into the space. I’m also constantly picking up gold decor items to add or exchange with what I’ve already got. It’s a work in progress.Thank you to Urban Walls for sending me these gorgeous blush peony decals. They were surprisingly easy to apply! You have a chance to position them and be creative before ultimately deciding on your final look. This took me a few tries, but in the end I am so happy with how they turned out. I’ve received so many compliments already, and I’ve decided to use these in our guest bedroom as well!
